Comme nous vous l'annoncions la semaine dernière, le dynamique constructeur indien a de grands projets pour Saab en collaboration avec NEVS.
Mahindra fait beaucoup parler actuellement autour du lancement de son SUV XUV500. Un beau SUV assez chic et d'envergure internationale. C'est ce pourquoi il est destiné à être diffusé au delà des frontières de l'Inde jusqu'en Europe. Pour ce faire, une version bi-turbo de 170 cv du XUV500 est à l'étude. Afin de respecter la législation concernant l'émission de Co2, de nouvelles motorisations devraient apparaitre.Nous savons que cette voiture va être commercialisée en Europe, cela a été confirmé par Mahindra.
En attendant l'objectif de Mahindra est de contrecarrer la main mise de VW et de Skoda sur le marché indien.
La stratégie consistera a élargir la gamme notamment celle des berlines avec des moteurs plus modernes. Ce segment rencontre un très grand succès en Inde, il est donc logique que Mahindra s'y interesse également. Entrera alors en scène la nouvelle Saab 9-3. D'abord électrique, elle devrait être déclinée en version hybride diesel (TTiD)et essence (1.6L Turbo). Comme on nous l'a laissé entendre, une version Aero de 300 cv est même envisagée, équipée d'un moteur essence et du module électrique e-AAM ! Cette gamme 9-3 est la Saab PhoeniX bien sûr. Avec comme nous le savions déjà un avant identique au concept tandis que l'arrière devrait être plus éffilé, hommage étant rendu à la 900.
Le financement devrait s'appuyer sur les ventes en amont de la version électrique à travers le monde et pas seulement en Chine. D'ici un an et demi elle devrait etre mise sur le marché.
L'idée est d'aller vite. Et Mahindra, en toute discrétion, tisse des liens, achète des compagnies et brevets afin de se doter de ce qui se fait de mieux actuellement en matière de technologie.
En revanche des incertitudes persistent quant aux lieux de production et au droit d'utiliser la marque Saab dans l'éventualité du développement et de la mise en production de la 9-3 sur le sol indien.

Mahindra is currently in the spotlights with the launch of its SUV XUV500. A nice SUV rather chic and international in scope. And the target is a wider distribution over the borders of India to Europe.
To do this, there is talk of a a twin-turbocharged 170 hp of the XUV500 being under consideration.In order to meet strict CO2 legislation, one could see these engines pop up. We do know this car will be introduced in Europe, this has been confirmed by Mahindra.
Meanwhile, Mahindra like other local manufacturers has the goal of countering the success of VW and Skoda in the Indian market. The strategy may be including a wider range including sedans with more modern engines. Sedans are much more popular in that region than they are in Europe.
So a logical step could be..... Then enter on the scene the new Saab 9-3. First Electric, it could also become be available in diesel (TTiD) hybrid version and petrol (1.6L Turbo). As we have been told, an Aero version of 300 hp is even considered, equipped with a petrol engine and the electrical module e-AAM! It's of course based on the PhoeniX roots. With, as we already knew before, the same concept for the front while the back should be more slender, homage to the 900.
Funding should be based on sales ahead of the electric versions in the world and not only in China and within a year and a half should be placed on the market.
The idea is to go fast.
Mahindra discreetly, creates links, buying companies and patents in order to acquire what is currently the best in technology. However uncertainties remain about the places of production and the right to use the Saab brand as this is still subject of negotiations.
