Per Eklund testera ses 9-3 au circuit de Dreux le 27 Mars !

Dans le cadre de la préparation de la nouvelle saison du championnat de Rallycross (GRC) , le team Scott-Eklund Racing viendra éprouver ses 2 Saab 9-3 préparées par Trollspeed (Moteur), Sellholm (Transmission),Ohlins (Suspensions) sur le circuit de Rallyscross de Dreux le Mardi 27 Mars .Une occasion unique de voir les voitures , developpant 600 CV, s'ébattre dans leur milieu naturel .
"Je suis ravi de la vitesse à laquelle nous avons préparé les premières voitures de notre équipe .Notre taux de progression est prometteur mais ce n'est que lors des premiers tours de roues sur le circuit de Charlotte Motor speedway que nous pourrons évaluer les avantages obtenus si il y en a " a déclaré le légendaire pilote suèdois Per Eklund.
"La Saab 9-3 devrait être à la hauteur de ses rivales .Nous avons l'avantage d'un assemblage affiné durant l'hiver.En gagnant du poids et de la puissance , nous misons plus sur ces améliorations que sur des temps scratch .La voiture a déjà l'expérience des Europeans Series de l'année dernière et son modèle précedent a gagné une épreuve GRC dans les mains de Toomas Heikkinen en 2010.
J'ai hâte d'entamer les essais en France .Nous sommes conscients que les conditions ne seront pas les mêmes qu'aux USA mais ces essais nous donneront des indications significatives .Puis nous enchainerons avec des essais en Floride à partir du mois de Mai ."

Scott-Eklund Racing is ready to mount its pre-season testing campaign at Le Circuit de Rallycross de Dreux in France on Tuesday, March 27, ahead of the fledgling team’s inaugural Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) assault.

Founded by 2011 MSA British Rallycross Vice-Champion Andy Scott (Dumfries, Scotland) and Swedish rally and rallycross legend Per Eklund in January 2012, Scott-Eklund Racing has put in a monumental effort to create the brand new rallycross outfit from the ground up in less than two months.

The Scott-Eklund Racing Saab 9-3 will make its official debut test run in the hands of Team Principal and lead driver, multiple FIA European and British Rallycross Championship race winner Scott. The team aims to field a pair of the two-litre turbocharged 16-valve, 600bhp powerhouses in the GRC this season.

Eklund’s 50 years of unrivalled success across American, European and Swedish rallycross, not to mention two decades building Saab’s rallycross pedigree, are invested in the team’s new cars built at the Eklund Motorsport premises in Sweden.

The Scott-Eklund Racing Saab 9-3 is an evolution of Eklund’s 2011 European Rallycross front-running machine. With the foundations of an already proven package, the 2012 GRC spec car also benefits from the expertise of Eklund’s long-term partners, with engines built by Trollspeed, transmission from Sellholm and Öhlins suspension.

The one-day test at Dreux will mark the car’s maiden run in its full 2012 GRC configuration after which the entire operation will ship to the team’s US base at Champion Racing's Headquarters building in Pompano Beach, Florida. The pre-season test campaign will then continue State-side.

Backed by Scott Trawlers of Dumfries, Scott-Eklund Racing will make its GRC debut at the season opening round on Saturday, May 26 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of the Memorial Day weekend of the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600.

"Scott-Eklund Racing started as a basic idea late last year. To be heading into our inaugural test and first outing for the entire team is pretty special. What the team has achieved in such a short space of time is monumental.

"We’ve had very limited testing time. I had a short run in Sweden late last year but winter was already setting in and the snow prevented any further testing. Although the Saabs are looking good working off the dyno, the test will give us our first real indication of our actual pace.

"The car hasn’t run its 2012 GRC spec, so my first objective in France will be familiarisation, then getting feedback on base setting changes to relay back to our engineers in the States. We know we’ve got a bit more power, a wider power band and more torque, so it’s working into a very good package. It’s a new car for me so we now have to find out what makes it sing.
