Some pictures from my annual visit to båstnäs car cemetery

Somewhere up northern Europe, in Sweden, near the Norwegian border, out in the middle of nowhere, there is the amazing old car graveyard. Drive for miles after miles on muddy forest roads to reach this amazing place in the middle of nowhere. There is no sign giving you direction.

Hundreds upon hundreds of decaying cars from the 40's, 50's 60's and 70's are scattered around you. You can see how nature takes back the man-made. Two brothers lived here for many years, it all started in the fifties, people was aloud to scrap their cars on the two brothers property, they lived on selling parts from the cars. This old car graveyard is almost like a labyrinth, a lot of amazing cars to discover. Yes it's a shame that car history like this is rotting away somewhere in a corner of the world, but these cars are here for a reason, they are all scrapped because some kind of damage…and if they had ended up on another junkyard, they had been scrapped since long time ago….I am fascinated by this place and i can go there for hours...

Mitt årliga besök på Båstnäs bilkyrkogård

Någonstans i västra Värmland, mitt ute i ingenstans nära norska gränsen så ligger Båstnäs bilkyrkogård. Man kör ett par mil rätt ut i skogen för att nå denna fantastiska plats.

Flera hundra bilar är staplade på varann ute i skogen, från 40, 50, 60 och 70 talet. Två bröder levde här i många år, de lät folk skrota sina bilar på sin tomt, bröderna sålde sen delar av bilarna, först mest till norrmän senare till bilentusiaster från hela Europa. Bilkyrkogården är nästan som en labyrint med stigar lite här och var.

Ja det är synd att bilarna bara ruttnar bort, men alla bilarna står här av en anledning, de var skrotade på grund av någon form av defekt. Hade de varit skrotade på en annan skrot hade de förmodligen inte funnits alls.

Personligen är jag väldigt fascinerad av denna plats och kan gå i flera timmar där.
